Thanks for sharing this cool and informative infographic about Pinterest.
I must confess, however, that I get stuck between avoiding self-promotion and yet using Pinterest to market my business. Where is that line?
Ivin says
Currently I’;m only sharing others content and wondering if I’m not shooting myself in the foot.
Michelle Shaeffer says
I think a lot of users are still trying to find that line. And it’s a good sign that we care. :)
For me, I try to balance like I do the other social networks — 1/10 self-promotional or less. I pin/repin a lot more other stuff than I do my own.

Thanks Michelle, I’ve repinned it to my Pinterest Social Media board.
Have a great day! :)

No doubt, Pinterest is one of the fastest growing social media site and get huge following by women. I generally don’t use it for business promotion, instead I use it for fun purpose and searching some amazing images.
Michelle Shaeffer says
It can be a blast to just browse through the site. :)

I’m still amazed at how well Pinterest is doing. I signed up and pinned a handful of images and then opted instead to take a “wait and see” approach thinking they would slowly fade away leaving me to focus on the other numerous sites I’m participating in daily! LOL
I guess they are here to stay however!
Michelle Shaeffer says
So far it seems that way. They’re still growing and sending oodles of traffic to sites getting pinned.

This is an awesome infograpgic, the marketing strategies part is really comprehensive!
thanks for the share!

Great ideas, they did a nice job on that one.

I love Pinterest and one of the things I’ve noticed is the more you use it, the more your pins get re-pinned. I’m not sure if that observation can be scientifically proven, but it is my experience. Sort of like blogs Google likes are the ones that are updated regularly.
Michelle Shaeffer says
I’ve had the same experience. As with the other social networks, it pays to actually connect with people and interact with them. :)

A big thank you to Maria and Michelle for these tips. This will be bookmarked for future use.
Every day there’s a message in my email informing me of yet another follower on Pinterest and I don’t have a board. I have this nagging voice somewhere in the back of my mind saying “do your first board Adalia, do your first board” But WHAT? Hmm … methinks I will create one with some confidence building quotes. Wish me luck; I have to figure out how to do this.
Michelle Shaeffer says
Love that idea, it fits perfectly for you, Adalia!

Great post! I didn’t realize how much you can do with Pinterest… Thank you!
Michelle Shaeffer says
Yes, lots of cool options for interacting and sharing on their site.

Wonderful infographic, thanks. Why are we surprised at Pinterest’s rapid popularity? Don’t we know that a picture is worth a thousand words? That we relate to and remember what we SEE much more effectively than what we READ or HEAR? So here we all are, connecting with each other through social media, and Pinterest is the only one where pictures come first. With all the other media, words come first, and pictures are secondary, if at all. In light of Pinterest’s success, might all that be changing?
