Great advice Michelle. You are a blogging genius, the queen of blogging!
Michelle Shaeffer says
Thanks, Julia.
Annie says
Thanks for the recommendations! Bought one, and put the others on my wishlist! I’ve been reading The $100 Startup by Chris Guillebeau – really good ideas in bite sized chunks!
Michelle Shaeffer says
Hi Annie, I think the post you were commenting on was this one: https://michelleshaeffer.com/whats-your-bookshelf-say-about-you/2012/09/19/ And somehow the comment put itself over here instead. :)
Chris Guillebeau has excellent books, and his blog is great, too!

I’m so sorry because this will be the first challenge I haven’t done for a long time. If you can believe it I’m still fighting my way out of the April 24 Google mess with my sites.
I’ve found out now that my backlink ratios are way out of whack. Because of all my blog comments using my name (jeff wise) my backlink ratio is way on the generic side and I need more brand and direct keyword links.
Who knew right!
Please keep this in your thoughts and prayers.
Michelle Shaeffer says
Hey Jeff,
Okay, I know we’re not supposed to disagree with the all powerful Google… but that’s just crazy! Their systems should be smart enough to identify blog comments and realize that using your real name in those is not something to penalize for. *eye roll* Yes, Google, I’m rolling my eyes at you…
Sorry it’s still causing challenges for your site. If only there were Google faeries we could hire to wave a wand and fix it so legit sites rank well and garbage sites don’t (yours, of course, falls into the “should rank well” category)! :)
MyFamilyExercise says
Thank you for you comments Michelle. I hope I can get my site ranked again and join the next challenge. Good luck to everyone!
Suzanne says
This sounds like an exciting challenge that I could really get on board with. I’m up for it!
Jenn Carr says
Although I’m jumping in a bit late, I’m looking forward to the challenge! My blog is pretty new, so it’s exciting to add some structure and incentive to the process of writing frequently. Thanks ladies!
Jules Hirst, Etiquette Expert says
This is my first blog challenge, even though I am joining a few days behind, I am looking forward to meeting everyone over the next month.
