The biggest lesson I’m learning the past few years (won’t say I’ve mastered this yet)…
Discipline = Freedom
It’s getting up, when you don’t feel like getting up…
It’s staying focused, when you don’t feel like staying focused…
It’s choosing what you want most, over what you feel like right now…
I’m an emotional person. Extremely so.
Learning to master the emotions as they come, is where the power is.
Both seeking to understand the emotion and feeling – so I can consciously shift it.
I can choose to feel differently. I am in control, regardless of how the emotions feel.
Extreme ownership. Radical responsibility.
Being disciplined enough to say, “I don’t care how I feel, this is happening.”
Allowing myself to prioritize doing what I commit to – not only for others – but for myself, too.
Because it’s true.
If you want freedom. If you want success. If you want true control and power….
Discipline yourself.
And now, I’m off to the gym.
Because discipline and consistency are how results are achieved.
In fitness, in health, in business, in life.
Read the book that this phrase comes from, and that inspired this post: Discipline Equals Freedom by Jocko Willink.
