Do you offer your blog readers a way to subscribe by email? If you run your RSS feed through Feedburner, it’s easy to do! (And here’s why I recommend Feedburner: https://michelleshaeffer.com/get-control-over-your-rss-feed/2010/06/14/)
Here’s a quick video I made to show how to find your subscribe by email code and add it to a widget for your blog:
Got a WordPress or blogging question I can answer for you? Leave me a comment and I’ll try to do a video for you or point you in the right direction to find your answer.

I was just wondering how to get this in my sidebar when I came across your post. Wonderful timing! Still trying to find comparable things in WordPress.org vs. wordpress.com. I must say wordpress.org is a little more complex, but has many more toys to play with. I’m tempted to play and experiment though, instead of getting things done!
Yes, many more options in WordPress.org. I find myself sometimes distracted by all the fun toys, too.
Michelle, this is fantastic. I’d not figured out how to add subscriptions to my blog, and now because of your video, I’ve learned how to do that and a few other things i can do on it besides. This has been invaluable. Thank you, ur a star.

Hi Lia, thanks for the comment and glad this was helpful for you. :)
Michelle,
Thank you for your video and helping me put a subscribe button on my new blog. Your video and my question happened on the same day. Great timing!

Great! Thank you for stopping by, and leaving a comment. :)
Woo Hoo! Easy! Thanks for teaching this!
You’re welcome, Amy.
Hi Michelle
I’m looking to add a “subscribe by email” link to my blog via a sidebar widget.
Thanks for showing me how.
Notice that in your video the link says powered by feedburner but the one on your site doesn’t.
Did you modify the link?
Hi Keith, mine’s modified a little bit. You can do even nicer modifications to it though like the ones using feedburner at http://www.chrisbrogan.com or http://www.briantracy.com/blog to add background colors/images, etc.
Thanks Michelle
Both look great.
Are you allowed to remove the feedburner reference?
As far as I can find it’s not required to be on the form. The other option they give you is a link that doesn’t include the reference, and the feedburner info is very clear on the pop up, all the confirm pages, every email it sends out, etc. :)
Thanks Michelle
Appreciate you taking the time to reply.
You’re welcome, thank you for commenting. :)
thanks for sharing such a helpful post….!!!
