It's so easy to create your own banner, Fido can do it!

It’s so easy to create your own banner, Fido thinks he can do it!

Learning to create your own images can be a helpful skill for bloggers — you’ve got your blog’s header image, your Facebook fan page, Twitter profile, and you may even be creating custom images to promote your posts.

In this short video tutorial I’ll show you step by step how to use the free graphic editor Pixlr.com to create a banner image for wherever you need one.

If you’d like to become a real artist like Fido over there, grab your sassy beret and virtual paints and just search on YouTube for great Pixlr tutorials.

Your Turn!  Let’s Discuss…

Have you tried creating your own images or do you prefer to outsource that piece to a designer?

Do you find tutorial videos like this helpful?

Hello, Michelle. Thank you for taking the time to show us how to make a banner. I’ve always wondered how others made headers for their ezines. A banner can be used for introducing a new subject within an ezine too.

My question is: Is Pixler (spell?) a free software and where to find it?

Your tutorial made it look so easy and your explanations and descriptions were so easy to follow and understand. Thank you again. Take care. Happy New Year! Rosella Young, AA-1 Designs, Invest in your shelf! P.S. The above web site is available in the U.S., Ontario area of Canada, and Australia. For all others, please find one in your area.

    Michelle,

Thanks for this great tutorial. This is great for folks who don’t own Photoshop and don’t want to fork over a fortune to buy it. I have never used Pixlr.com, but now I will.

I love tutorials, I have to make a conscious effort to sit still, listen and learn. I enjoy making images. I’ve been using Pixlr since I first discovered it through one of your always informative posts.

I’ve created dozens of images (I should count, it may be hundreds by now) and a few banners, using Pixlr. My #1 son is a frequent user of Pixlr mobile.

Thanks for the video. Layers has always confused the heck out of me and I’ve been looking for a way to match colors. You addressed both!! Thank you.

Dear Michelle, I enjoyed the banner tutorial. Is this the same thing a blogger would use to create an inspirational picture for a blog? I see many of them on other blogs with Bible verses, but have been unsure about how to create them or where to get pictures that are not going to violate copyright laws. Thanks for any info you can give me. Debbie
P.S. I don’t really see a way to read your response to this from my gmail account: Is there something I should be clicking when I comment that allows me to see the response? Debbie
