How to Embed a TED Talk Video in a Blog Post

By Michelle Shaeffer | 8 Comments

Found a great video on TED that you’d like to share on your blog but aren’t sure how to make that happen?  If it’s not hosted on YouTube, here’s how to embed it and share.

Step 1: Find the “<> Embed” button and click it.

When you click a popup will open.

Step 2: Get the “Embed” code from the popup and copy it to your clipboard.

Click the “embed” code to highlight it all and then click control+C to copy it.

Step 3: Add the code to your WordPress post.

Start by putting a row of ************ where you want to add the video.

Next, click on the “HTML” tab to switch to HTML mode and look for those ***********s.

Erase your *************s and paste the embed code into that spot with control+V.  It will look something like this (the code is long!).

Now you can flip back to “Visual” mode and you’ll see this:

That’s it!  You’re ready to hit the “Publish” button.

Your end results should be something like this:

Your turn to go embed a video in a blog post.  Go find something awesome at http://www.ted.com/

Thanks for sharing Michelle, Your instructions are clear and easy to follow. If only I had found your blog sooner. I learned to do this by trial and error. I have done five or six posts using Ted Talk Videos.

It’s rich with content on a wide variety of topics … especially for blog posts.
