How to Send *Some* Tweets to Facebook

By Michelle Shaeffer | 2 Comments

If you’re active on both Twitter and Facebook you can set up your accounts so that your tweets on Twitter also appear on Facebook.  But if you’re on Twitter a lot it can quickly take over your Facebook profile and overwhelm your friends with only your side of conversations from Twitter.  Instead, set it up so only the tweets you choose show up on Facebook.

There are two easy ways to do this.  I use www.HootSuite.com and it allows me to just check the profiles I want my update to show up on.

If you don’t use HootSuite, here’s how you can do it:

To Get Selective Tweets on Your Personal Profile:

  • Sign into Facebook
  • Go to http://www.facebook.com/selectivetwitter/
  • Click on the “Go To Application” button (right below the birdy on the left of the page)
  • Enter your Twitter username in the box and click save
  • If it asks you to authorize the application and allow it, you’ll want to allow it
  • Now anytime you tweet just add #fb to the end of your tweet and it will show up on your Facebook profile, too

To Get Selective Tweets on Your Fan Page:

  • Sign into Facebook
  • Go to http://www.facebook.com/selectivetwitter/
  • Click on the “Add to My Page” link below the blue birdy
  • In the pop up choose which of your fan pages and choose “Add to Page” then “Close”
  • Now go to your fan page URL
  • On the left under your profile photo click “Edit Page”
  • On the left, click “Applications”
  • Scroll to where you see “Selective Tweets” listed and click the “Go to Application” link
  • Now enter your Twitter username and click “Save Changes”
  • You may need to grant permission for the application to post to your page, it will tell you on the right side of the page if you do
  • That’s it!  Now anytime you tweet just add #fb to the end of your tweet and it will show up on your Facebook profile, too

Interesting.. This is my 1st time to this site. Appreciate you for sharing . I must bookmark this blog. I was a room decorator for a while. My decorating hint of the century is this: Don’t overcrowd a home. Room space is required. Until next time…..
