It’s an Every Day Decision

By Michelle Shaeffer | 10 Comments

“Wherever you see a successful business, someone once made a courageous decision.” -Peter F. Drucker

I love that quote.  It’s true.  Creating a successful business requires a courageous decision.

But after you make that first exciting, courageous decision… you’ve got to keep making the decision every single day to move forward and succeed.

I’ve got a sticky note on my bulletin board that reads:

Decide every day to do what it takes to succeed!!

It’s something you’ve got to keep at.  Successful businesses don’t happen overnight.  They don’t build themselves.  It takes work.  Commitment.

Some days it takes sheer willpower.  Some days you drop one of the balls you’re juggling, and have to pick it back up.  Fall seven times, stand up eight.  Fall 1,000 times, get back up 1,001 and keep fighting.

Take it one day, one decision at a time.  Push through the challenges.  Then we can cheer together on the other side, celebrating the strength we’ve found within.

There is no impossible.  You can achieve what you set your heart and mind to.  So don’t listen to the doubters and the nay sayers.  Don’t listen to the voices that want to hold you back.

Be petrified and say yes anyway.

Go make a courageous decision.

And then do it again tomorrow.

Because it’s worth it.

So what’s your courageous decision for today?

“But after you make that first exciting, courageous decision… you’ve got to keep making the decision every single day to move forward and succeed.” – This is the heart of it, isn’t it, Michelle? It’s not just making the decision and facing our fears, but it’s continuously doing so until the things we fear no longer grip us and paralyze us in indecision,.

You know how much I love this kind of post. Very inspiring and motivating!

It’d be so great if that one decision got us past the challenges and fears but I find it takes a lot of “practice” for me.

You moved your blog! I’ll have to go explore the new one. :)

I must say that my courageous decision or choice today is to slow down, look at the big picture, write down what needs to be done … meditate a bit before I lay my head down to sleep and tomorrow WILL BE A BETTER DAY!!!! and I will get 5 things done of my list ;) … instead of 1 or 2. Thanks, Michelle!

Sometimes it takes more self control to slow down than it does to speed through the day. Craziness, isn’t it? :)

Feel the fear and do it anyway. I feel like if we aren’t doing this, our lives are stagnating and we aren’t moving forward. We have to make courageous decisions every day. Do something bold. Do something new!

That’s a great quote, Brid – “Feel the fear and do it anyway.” The definition of courage.

Hi Michelle, so true!!! I have created a business over the last six years and it is a decision every day… to continue, to feel the fear and do it anyway, to succeed! I am grateful I have persevered because I love the opportunities and creative ventures my business opens up for me.

    Great blog
    Lots of love

My decision for today is to let go of a partnership I had with an organization that forced me to be more conservative than I desired because I thought I needed their credibility. I feel a rebirth coming. Yay!

You know my Dad used to say “Anything worth doing in life is going to be hard”. He’s the one that taught me that failure is just part of the journey. If we don’t capitalize on it then we can’t succeed from it. Very motivating post. Thanks for the boost, Michelle!
