One Quick Request?

By Michelle Shaeffer | 11 Comments

Can I ask you a favor? If you’ve found the content on my blog valuable, helpful, or even just entertaining, would you take a couple of minutes to add your review at Alexa?

If you don’t want an Alexa account you can login with Facebook to leave a review.  But if you’ve got a website you may want to create an account so you can claim your website.

Reviews: http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/michelleshaeffer.com#reviews

How does this benefit you?  Because I’ll appreciate it and send warm, fuzzy, happy feelings your way.

No, really?  I’ve got a blog post drafted and I’m adding notes every 2-3 days with my Alexa ranking and it’s movement so I can share with you the steps I’ve taken and whether they seemed to affect it or not, so you can improve your ranking, too.

Because Alexa was totally confusing to me a month ago, and all the advice out there was pretty much the same.  Some of it even felt shady to me.  Pay people to spam my link on blogs and forum? Leave reviews on popular sites using an Alexa redirect link? Install the toolbar on every computer in a work environment and set my blog to be the home page on all of them?  Uh, no thanks.

So I tried other strategies, and my 1 month rank has gone from around 200,000 to 75,000 in the last 30 days.  My traffic has not doubled.  I’ll share with you what has changed.  In another 2 weeks or so.  As soon as I get my 3 month ranking down below 100,000 and can say it’s worked.

Spread the Love

    Michelle,
Thanks for another wonderful post – I’ve never heard of Alexa so I’m waiting to hear how you get on. In the meantime, I’ve been and left my glowing review.
    Thanks so much

Hi Michelle – I found you through Networked Blogs (go figure!) :) Great tutorial btw. I had *just* began working on my own Alexa profile over the weekend, preparing to work on that after I finish my current focus on StumbleUpon. It was my pleasure to pop over and offer up a review. I’ve subscribed to your feed and will be tracking your progress. I’ll look forward to learning how I can make my next project easier :)

    Hi Michelle,
I just installed the alexia toolbar on my computer a few days into the 30 days challenge and i was ranking at a 8m+(I wish this was actual cash) but two weeks down the line and blogging daily, i am happy to inform you i am now at the 900k rank. I actually dont know the full benefit of the ranking though but moving up the way my blog has done is quite phenomenal

Now that would be awesome, wouldn’t it? Too bad!

That’s awesome movement, Pamela — great work.

    Michelle,

I did my review! Thanks for the push to get registered with Alexa.

When you do your Alexa update would you show us how to add the Alexa link to our HTML I got lost.
