Question week is here! This is my fun way to end 2010 on my blog. Each day this week I’ll just ask a question and let the real content show up in the comments so we can get to know each other better.
Let’s start with an easy question. What’s your favorite thing (or favorite things) about your online business?
I’d say I’ve got two favorite things.
First, I love that having an online business means I can work from home and build my business and schedule around what my family needs.
Second, I love that with the internet I’m not limited to working with people in my own little town or even my own big state (Alaska) but that I can work with clients in Canada, Australia, all over the United States, and in many other places around the globe.
Your turn! Same favorites? Or something different?
Leanne Chesser says
My favorite things about my online business are:
1. I get to work at home where I love to be.
2. I have a context for my work that feels free to me, not only in terms of where I work, and when I work, but in terms of creativity and values as well.
Michelle Shaeffer says
Love this, Leanne. It is freeing in so many ways. :)

My favorite thing about my online business is that I can create my product completely by myself. In the other jobs I do, success or failure of a project depends on several people all doing what they’re supposed to do. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn’t. But with my business I’m completely the master of my own fate.

I love that I can do web design from home, I don’t have to ask for time off, and most importantly, I can’t be let go. What more could one ask for? *LOL*
Michelle Shaeffer says
Job security! :) That’s a definite plus.

There are many things I enjoy but, my very favorite is that I can travel from my home in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to my home in Wisconsin,USA and back, or anywhere, with my “office” by my side. Close it, unplug it, slip it into it’s traveling case, and my lap top brings along all my files, contact lists, reports, projects, etc. etc. Like the saying, “Where ever you go, there you are”

The mobile office. An amazing thing. :)

Great question Michelle! I love being able to work from home. I am an energy therapist/life coach and I like being able to work with a larger number of people this way. I also love doing distant energy work and continue to be in awe of the process when people on the phone with me feel energy moving! It is powerful for both of us. It is great to be able to connect with people like that!
Thanks for asking the question. I love your great ideas!

The internet allows us to reach and help so many more people — I’m thankful to be living now when we’ve got the technology we do.

1.) I love my big global support group online — all the wonderful entrepreneurs I meet! I get to share my knowledge, learn from others, collaborate with awesome solo professionals, blog alongside some of the best bloggers around, and have a great time helping each other to build successful businesses.
2.) There are NO “have-to’s” only “want-to’s”. I don’t have to answer to anyone but myself. I don’t have to punch a time clock to work my business. I don’t have to settle for less than what I’m worth. I don’t have to work side-by-side with people who don’t share my same values, morals, or standards.
I don’t HAVE TO build my business — I
Michelle Shaeffer says
I love how you put that in a second comment, Melanie. lol
Building our own businesses does give us so much more space to draw those lines and follow our hearts.
Melanie Kissell says
…WANT TO !! :)

So excited to see you here, Joan! And I love your response. :) Don’t know if you’ve visited Michelle’s blog before but my recommendation is to come back often. She’s a remarkable human being and a darned savvy entrepreneur!
Michelle Shaeffer says
Thank you, Melanie, I appreciate that.
Michelle Shaeffer says
Hey Joan, thanks for stopping by! And I agree, affiliate checks are a fabulous thing.

My favourite thing is meeting and connecting with people all over the world, like YOU!
I love how I can send work to my VA, she works while I’m sleeping, and when I get up, it’s done :) LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

Outsourcing rocks when done right. :) And I’m thankful we connected online — what seems like forever ago. lol

Michelle,
Most of my life I have worked for my self because I love having control of what I do. Having an online business has been a new experience and a totally different beast to tame.
I like being able to work at any time of the day. I am a night owl, so working online into the wee hours of the morning works for both of my businesses.
Michelle Shaeffer says
Being able to work at whatever time works for us is such freedom. I’m a night owl, too.
