Ready to Make Blogging a Habit?

By Michelle Shaeffer | 11 Comments

Is your blog ready to become more of a habit and priority for you this year?

You’re invited to join Michele Scism, me, and 350+ other bloggers for the January 2012 Ultimate Blog Challenge!

The “challenge” is to post to your blog 31 times during the month of January.

Why blog so often?

Here are just a few of the benefits I’ve found from participating in blog challenges:

  • I’m more motivated to write regularly since there’s the added accountability.
  • It’s more fun to blog with a group of bloggers who are all working together, brainstorming ideas, and sharing posts.
  • My blog traffic goes up from both bloggers in the challenge and as the search engines find all the new content I’m creating.
  • Writing so often forces me to focus, write faster, and has helped me find my “voice” in blogging.

So why not jump in and join us?  There’s no cost, and there’s no blogging police so even if you don’t complete the whole challenge you’ll still be benefiting from participating in the group and getting daily blogging ideas.

I’d love to hear what benefits you’ve gotten from participating in blog challenges, or blogging more frequently, too!

Hey Michelle, of course I am in. I have gotten my 1st 2 posts of the month already done and have several already scheduled out. I’ve learned to utilize Hootsuite … sort of HAHA I will get the hang of it eventually. I like these challenges because I go to blogs I normally wouldn’t go to. the FB group has been really helpful with this. But I would be here forever if I went to every blog and commented on every one of them. I wish I could spend the time to do that, though! I really do! I am learning to be more consistent in my posting, but also using that awesome little “schedule” button in WP ;) I can sit down and whip out 3 – 5 posts at a time, schedule them out and set things up on hootsuite as well! I love it! I could go on and on about this one, you know!! Thank you so much for hosting it again!!! You and Michele are awesome!!!

Same here — I wish I could visit all the blogs daily! But we’re over 350 now and that’s a LOT of bloggers. :)

Hootsuite rocks. My favorite way to manage social networking for sure.

Glad you’re in, Kimberly. It’s awesome that you’ve got some scheduled ahead. That’s a great way to stay on top of it.

I just happened to come across your blog. I am excited about starting the year off with a blogging challenge and even looking to continue on throughout the year. I am also a part of project 365 (366 since this is a leap year) so I definitely have my work cut out for me.

366 is a big challenge — I should think about that one… :) Glad you stumbled on the blog and welcome to the challenge.

    Dear Michelle
I’d love to try, if I can still join in! I have been blogging daily since Christmas day in a “12 days of Christmas” series, but that comes to an end today.
I have seen an increase in traffic to my site over these 12 days, though, so I’d like to continue writing very regularly. We will be away for two weeks in Jan, though, so I will need to schedule some ahead. I know you have something somewhere about how to do that, so I’ll find that.
    Susan
