With the explosive popularity of Twitter, many websites have sprung up to allow you to easily create your own customized Twitter background for your profile.
Using a custom background gives you an easy way to make your profile stand out and promote your business.
Here are some websites where you can create your own:
TwitBacks
What they offer: 80 different background options to choose from in a variety of colors and styles. You can add your own text, photograph or logo, and links to your other social networking profiles.
Cost: Free if you keep the credit link to their site. $4.99 to remove the link. Completely custom design also offered.
TwitterBackgrounds
What they offer: Nearly 200 stylish and artistic background options along with a matching color scheme. Extremely easy to install on your profile. No customization options beyond choosing your background and colors (so you can’t add your name, links, etc.)

TwitrBackgrounds
What they offer: A wide selection of background images free. You can also choose a customized option that allows you to add up to four of your photos to the background.

Twitter-Images
What they offer: A variety of free options organized by style. You can order a customized version of a background you like that adds your photo and text (not automated, their designers will create it for you).

How to Change Your Twitter Background
Several of the options above include a feature where you can have them automatically load your new background to your account. If you choose not to use that feature, or want to upload a background you’ve got the file for, here’s how:
- Login to your Twitter account
- Click “Settings” on the top right
- Click the “Design” tab
- Click on “Change Background Image”
- Click on the “Browse” button and find the image on your computer
- Check the box if you want it to tile (repeat to fill the screen, if it’s a smaller size image)
- Click “Save Changes”
How to Remove Your Twitter Background
Decide you don’t like what’s on your profile’s background? Here’s how to remove it:
- Login to your Twitter account
- Click “Settings” on the top right
- Click the “Design” tab
- Click on “Change Background Image”
- Click “Don’t Use a Background Image”
- Click “Save Changes”
Tip: If you have trouble using your photograph, logo or other images with any of these background creators, try resizing it at Resizr.com
