Have You Heard of Fiverr.com Yet?

Reading time: 3 – 5 minutes

I hadn’t heard of Fiverr.com until about a week ago when Traci Hayner Vanover introduced me to with her new ebook, Five Dollar Fortunes: Successfully Sell on Fiverr.com.

Like most of us who run small businesses online, I hear about a lot of new sites and ways to make money online but this one caught my interest and definitely has possibilities!

Let’s start with Fiverr.com.  It’s a site a little bit like eBay, only everything on it is $5.  That’s it.  $5.  Nothing higher.  Nothing Lower.  Sounds a little crazy, right?  You can purchase goods or services from sellers and then rate them after they deliver.  Like any site I found a few weird things (offers to leave odd voice mail for you), some downright strange listings (why would I pay $5 for a video of someone drunk?), a couple of questionable services ($5 could get me fake positive feedback–I’ll skip that one, thanks!) , but also a lot of interesting deals and introductory services from businesses and professionals.  It’s one of those sites where just browsing can have you laughing out loud.

So, silliness aside, is it any good for small businesses?  With Traci’s guide, definitely!

The last thing I’ve got time for in my (very busy!) day is to learn how to navigate the selling process on another site, figure out which of my products or services are a good fit, and deal with the whole learning curve.  With Traci’s guide I now know exactly how to sell on Fiverr and have great, practical tips on what to sell.

The first section of this ebook is a step-by-step guide to everything Fiverr, including:

  • A great explanation of what exactly Fiverr is (it made a lot more sense after I read this section)
  • How to navigate the website and post offers, including clearly labeled screenshots
  • Exactly what I need to know *before* I list any items or services for sale
  • How to decide what are good things to list vs. bad things to list
  • Tips for writing great offers to get more attention
  • What to do after I’ve made a sale

You’ll find what’s in it is much more than just how to sell on Fiverr.com.  The second section of this ebook offers fantastic info on how to create your own information product to sell on Fiverr (and elsewhere!) that offers information and help for the reader without taking a ton of your time or expertise to create.  Learn all about public domain works and software, GPL and LGPL, and copyright.  Traci explains how to find free to use information (lots of links!) and add value to it to create your very own unique product to sell.

If you’re thinking about selling on Fiverr or want to create your own information product, I highly recommend Traci’s guide.  It’s great for anyone looking for a way to earn extra cash online.  Like anything, you’ll have to read it and apply the info to make money (no get rich quick schemes!) but you’ll definitely have all the information you need to succeed on Fivver.com.

Very cool ebook.  It’s only $17.  Check it out here -> http://promodiva.com/2010/06/five-dollar-fortunes-successfully-selling-on-fiverr-com/

Disclosure: This is not an affiliate link, I didn’t receive any financial compensation to post this, but I did get a free copy.  Sometimes people give me free stuff to review in exchange for private feedback or to share with my readers and networks.  If it’s not awesome I just send it back or decline.  If it’s awesome I’ll share it.  I’m picky and won’t recommend anything that I wouldn’t pay for myself.  So there’s my two cents.

Fiverr is really cool – I actually signed up and placed a few tasks.

I had video marketing down (creating a simple video for $5) which got nearly 10 requests within a few days. The only problem is I don’t have time for all of them haha.

    Fiverr is great for everyone.

The buyer takes little risk on a new provider and can see their feedback anyway.
The seller can do varied work by offering many different gigs.

There’s already a clone called tenbux and there’ll be others too, I imagine catering for different niches e.g. one for videos, one for articles, one for $25 value type work.

You can see my own fiver gigs at my link above too.

Fiverr is very cool. I used it often to get tweets out to large amounts of people at a time. Just make sure you look at the feedback and rating of the seller. I have also just tried UpHype.com. This one’s is all about “Hype” and is more focussed on marketing efforts to promote your message, business or product? UpHype jobs are called “Hypes”. Hypes range from promoting your message to a user’s 100,000 Twitter followers to writing an article or press release for your blog. http://uphype.com. Plus it has a fun design like fiverr.
