And it’s free for the basic features!
How to Add Your Blog
There are two steps to getting setup. First you sign up with NetworkedBlogs, then you add it to your Facebook page.
Thank you to Diana Simon for letting me use her blog and fan page in this tutorial.
Part One: Add Your Blog to NetworkedBlogs
1) Start at NetworkedBlogs.com and click the “Add Your Blog” button. You may need to login to Facebook next.
2) Click the “Register a Blog” button.
3) Enter your blog details and click the “Next” button. Don’t worry, you’ll be able to change these later.
4) Confirm whether you’re the author or not. If not, you’ll be able to tag the author if you’re friends with them or skip that if not.
5) Now you’ll see the confirmation page showing your blog is successfully registered with the NetworkedBlogs system.
6) You may want to rate your blog, invite people to follow, edit, or share now.
Part Two: Syndicated Your Blog to Your Facebook Profile or Page
1) Click the “Syndication” link.
2) Choose your blog in the drop down (if you have more than one setup with NetworkedBlogs) then click on the “Add Facebook Target” link.
3) Now choose the profile you want your blog posts to show up on and click the “add” link for it. It will change to “added” when it’s successful.
Now your posts will automatically show up on your profile. You can also set it up to publish to any fan page or group that you’re an admin of by following step 3 again.
Here’s the next step… Part Three: Add a “Blog” Tab to Your Fan Page and some additional tips to help you best leverage NetworkedBlogs.

Empty response received.
i keep getting this error message when i try to register my blog. what gives?
jeff
Michelle Shaeffer says
I haven’t run into that issue, Jeff, but my guess would be some weird temporary glitch. I’d try again in a few hours and see what happens.

Thanks, Nancy. I’m glad it was helpful. :)

I just recently signed up for Networked Blog. I’m still getting use to it. I’m hoping that it brings me more traffic. It would be my first blog directory…
Michelle Shaeffer says
Awesome! I’ve got another post going live today that share some ways to get more traffic/followers with it.
Natalie A. says
Awesome, I will go check it out now…. Thank you for always providing us with great content
Michelle Shaeffer says
You’re welcome, and thank you for reading and using it! :)
Hausboot says
this is also very useful if you have a lot of friends on FB, because each time you post a new article, the networkedblogs app will post it to your wall
Michelle Shaeffer says
Yes, it does work best if you’ve got connections — friends, fans, or both. :)
a. scattergood says
Is anyone else having trouble with the “add your blog” button today? Actually I’ve tried it all weekend, trying to link my blog to Facebook and all I get is the dreaded message from Facebook:
The page you requested was not found.
a. scattergood says
OK, today the tab worked. And I hope I did it right! Thanks for these tips.
Michelle Shaeffer says
Usually when I see that, it’s just a temporary issue of some sort and if I try again later it works. I’ve had that issue constantly with my messages on Facebook lately–just keeps loading a blank page. So I don’t know the secret, but trying again a few hours later might work. :)
Natalie says
I literally just syndicated with Networked Blogs and then 10 seconds later your post appeared in my newsfeed!
It’s been great reading back through and checking I did it all correctly – thank you!
As a result, I have also discovered your great blog and at a glance, I can see lots of great articles which I want to bookmark and read. Thank you!
Michelle Shaeffer says
Funny timing. :)
And have fun exploring — I hope it’s all useful for you. :)
Christine says
Hi – great article about Networked Blogs.
The only problem with it now is that Facebook forces you to go OFF the secure “https” connection to access NetworkedBlogs. And also their new profile format obscures the link to the blog, making it difficult to access. Hmmm…. It seems facebook is always making ‘improvements’ which impede its simplicity.
Bloggeristic Greetings!
Michelle Shaeffer says
Hey Christine, thanks for mentioning that, good to know. I agree, Facebook’s constant tinkering with layout and function sometimes has the opposite effect they intend (confusion instead of simplicity). Just a couple of weeks break from changes would be nice! :)
Cindy says
Ok, so I click on ‘add your blog’ and do not get step 2: the screen I get wants me to choose 5 blogs to follow before it will let me do anything else. I don’t want to follow other blogs at this point – none of the ones given to me on that page appeal, anyway – I just want to register my blog. Any advice?
Michelle Shaeffer says
Hi Cindy, I was following blogs before I registered mine, so I hadn’t seen that. I wonder if it’d work for someone else to submit for you and then you could claim it? I’d be happy to if you want to try that. :) Just leave me a comment back here and I can submit it for you. Or, you might try asking Networked Blogs on Facebook here: http://www.facebook.com/networkedblogs
Nikki says
Hi Cindy, from memory that ‘choose 5 blogs’ step lists blogs in the same topic niche as yourself. You can change the topic and browse others you might like to follow. Hope this helps :)
Dharshana says
Syndication Settings page is blank. After selecting a blog nothing will happen. why?
Michelle Shaeffer says
I’m not sure what might cause that, Dharshana, but I bet NetworkedBlogs would have the answer. You can get in touch with them here -> http://www.facebook.com/networkedblogs or at http://help.networkedblogs.com/home or by email it’s networkedblogs [at] ninua.com
It could be something temporary though, so I’d try again later. The other thing that comes to mind is maybe a browser issue so you might try that step in Internet Explorer or Firefox (whichever one you weren’t using). :)
tonyknuckles @ 113tidbits says
Great post explaining the residual services of the syndication tool. I’ve been getting trickles of traffic from this. Now I need to tweak it a bit more.
Michelle Shaeffer says
Yes, some of the small tweaks can make a difference in getting more traffic from it. You might find this follow up post I wrote helpful: https://michelleshaeffer.com/add-a-blog-page-to-your-fan-page/2011/04/15

I first found out about networked blogs from a Youtube video but it doesn’t discuss much about how to set it up. Thanks for this post, I can now syndicate my blogs to my FB page. Your steps and instructions are simple and easy to follow.

You’re welcome, Cresilda.

i have recently setup networkedblog with my website but i can’t get my images to pull from my website to post on facebook. can you tell me what i may be doing wrong. here is what i have on wordpress, the only thing i can find that i would think would control the image setting.
Image sizes
The sizes listed below determine the maximum dimensions in pixels to use when inserting an image into the body of a post.
Thumbnail size Width 0 Height 0
Crop thumbnail to exact dimensions (normally thumbnails are proportional)
Medium size Max Width 50 Max Height 50
Large size Max Width 1024 Max Height 1024
Embeds
Auto-embeds When possible, embed the media content from a URL directly onto the page. For example: links to Flickr and YouTube. When possible, embed the media content from a URL directly onto the page. For example: links to Flickr and YouTube.
Maximum embed size Width 1024 Height 1024
If the width value is left blank, embeds will default to the max width of your theme
Michelle Shaeffer says
Hi Tara, a lot of different issues could be causing it, and it’s probably not related to NetworkedBlogs would be my first guess. To check, just try posting a link to the post and see if it pulls the thumbnail. If not, then it’s Facebook and your site, and nothing to do with NetworkedBlogs. If that’s the case, the next thing I’d check is make sure that you’re uploading the image you want to show up to your website (not just linking to it on another image host) and that you’re setting it to the featured image if your theme supports that. There’s also this option you might look at: http://www.ehow.com/how_4938148_thumbnail-show-up-facebook-share.html
Barbara | Creative Culinary says
Great information but I’m stumped a bit. I just created a new blog and want it to replace my old one; new branding all across the board.
I setup the new blog and I saw two tweets in my tweet stream today, one from my feed and one from networked blogs. Do you know how I can modify my account to not have that tweet…the duplicity of two right together is not necessary and I fear looks a bit like overkill to my followers!
thanks in advance…
Michelle Shaeffer says
Hi Barbara, you’d need to disconnect the rss feed’s auto post. How to do that would depend on how you’ve got it setup (through something like Hootsuite, Facebook Notes, etc).
Shannon says
VERY HELPFUL – thanks!
Michelle Shaeffer says
You’re welcome, Shannon.

Hi
I registered my blog but it doesnt let me select yes or no to verify author. Also when i try to share it shows that i dont have any friends?
i also cant syndicate. it says that im not following any blog:(
Michelle Shaeffer says
Hi Cristina, are you logged into Facebook when you’re trying to access/share it? That’s the first thing I’d check.
cristina says
Yes. i actually got the confirmation email but when i look for it i cant find it. does it matter if i have less than 20 followers?
Michelle Shaeffer says
I don’t think the number of followers should affect it. If you go straight to your blog feed, are images enabled there? http://help.networkedblogs.com/entries/20033713-i-want-image-from-my-post-to-publish

– click on your blog’s name listed there
– on the right side of the page look for the “Widget” link and click it
– look for the blue “Install Widget” button and click it
– below it some code will pop up in a box that you can copy – copy it
– go to your blog’s admin, then Appearance > Widgets

Cresilda says
Will removing the networkedblogs application remove my syndication from my blogs? i did a mistake syndicating my 2 blogs to my profile and page on FB. i think it’s better to remove it from my page.
Michelle Shaeffer says
It should. If you remove the app it won’t be able to post to your page anymore (at all).
Cresilda says
Thanks. I have to remove it. I think it’s better than i post them manually on my page or profile so that i could put some text aside from the article itself. Still thank you for the help. :)
Michelle Shaeffer says
Yes, there are some advantages to posting by hand. You might like to keep your blog listed with NetworkedBlogs (just not syndicating to your page) so people can use NB to follow it through Facebook and you’re listed in their blog directory. :)
Alex says
Thank u very much …

Hannah says
I’ had my blog syndicated to facebook for quite some time and am pretty comfortable working iwth it. There’s just one thing I’m wondering. I have about an equal number of friends (personal profile) to fans on my site’s fb Page. There is an overlap of about 85 people who are both my friends/professional contacts and fans of the page…and they get at least 2 copies of each post as a result, more if I like or share a particular post. Is it possible to syndicate ONLY to my page (dropping my profile) so I can stop driving my friends/professional contacts crazy? This way I could share specific posts on my profile when I want to draw the attention of certain people or to make sure all my friends get to see certain things without it becoming a THIRD post to the News stream of people who also like my Page. Thanks for your input. Hannah
Michelle Shaeffer says
Hi Hannah, yes you can do that. You’d just go into the syndication settings and remove your profile from the places you’re syndicating your blog to. :)
Robin Smith says
Great info. I’ve already registered but didn’t link to my facebook page. I plan to do that in the near future. Thanks for all the great information. It is so helpful to beginners.

You’re welcome, Robin. Thanks for commenting. :)

Question.
Is it better to use your name as the name of the blog or can an alias be used, such as in my case, “My Dream Architect?”
I absolutely love your tips and tools.
Thank you!
PeggyLee
Michelle Shaeffer says
Hey PeggyLee, I’d probably go with whatever you’re branding your blog with. :) Unless people are more likely to recognize you as the brand.
PeggyLee Hanson says
Thanks, Michelle!

Hi,
I read your steps and I will try it again, I am having a very hard time getting mine going. I had to my etsy site first and realized etsy does not have blog that I saw. So I am now trying it with atfire but it keeps saying instead of share it says import your blog. Help
thankyou
Michelle Shaeffer says
Hi Louise, I’m not too familiar with Artfire, but I’d recommend contacting their support to ask for the RSS feed url to use for NetworkedBlogs and once you’ve got the right url for that it should work. :)
Jessy says
Thank you so much for the tips. It really helps me :) thank u so much :)
Michelle Shaeffer says
You’re welcome, Jessy.
Kath says
Hi Michelle,
I’ve done the syndication and the screen as in your step 2 shows up but then I cant get to the screen as in your step 3. Where have I gone wrong?
Michelle Shaeffer says
Hi Kath, are you admin of any Facebook pages or groups? If you aren’t, they won’t show up there. If you are, I’m not sure why they wouldn’t — I’d probably try again later to see if it was a temporary glitch. :)
POEDJI KRISTIJANTO says
nice tip and trik,….
Michelle Shaeffer says
Thanks, Poedji.
MIKE says
big problem. I had registered my blog, but my fb got disabled. Now I can’t have my blog back. Any suggestions?
Michelle Shaeffer says
I’d contact NetowrkedBlogs directly and see if they can help you get access to that again. I’m not sure of any other way to get it back without Facebook access.
Antonette Basbas says
hi!
i just decided to use Networkedblogs.. but I accidentally put the wrong blog title. I’ve put Live Simple. Beyond Praise instead of Live Simply. Beyond Praise.
is there any chance I can change it?
i can’t figure out a way on how to. :(
-antonette
Michelle Shaeffer says
Hi Antonette, yes you can edit that. Here’s how:
– login to Facebook
– go to your blog’s NetworkedBlogs page (like mine is http://apps.facebook.com/blognetworks/blog/michelle_shaeffer_488699/)
– on the right side under the thumbnail click “Edit Details”
– change the blog name
– click “Save”
Mariana Davalos says
Excellent information Michelle, exactly what I was looking for! I was desperate to find some WordPress plugin that publishes my posts to FB and Twitter but this is MUCH better!
Wow, are you building websites since the 90’s? That’s like… forever!
Thanks
Michelle Shaeffer says
It is! I feel very old when I think about being around before Google… :)
Roving Jay says
Hi Michelle – when you syndicate a blog through Networked blogs to FB, and someone clicks on that link, it opens up the short link page at Networked Blogs.
e.g. http://networkedblogs.com/xxxXX
Do you know if these visits are captured in Google Analytics on my URL?
thanks, Jay
Michelle Shaeffer says
Hi Jay, it should capture some info, though I’m not sure if it’d show Facebook or Networked Blogs as the referrer. You can actually turn that option off (I did because it was confusing my readers with the extra share bar at the top).
tomas says
Hi, I’ve made all the setups for publishing on a FB group as described here, but the new posts are not appearing on the group wall. I read that this might take up to 3hrs but I waited ~5hrs and still nothing. Any tips?
Michelle Shaeffer says
Hi Tomas, depending on the blog it can take a little longer than that. I’ve seen it take almost a full day at times, and I’m not totally sure why.
You might try the manual option to update it that’s available on your main blog listing in the NetworkedBlogs setup pages.
Julius Capua says
Hello. Thanks for sharing this great idea. Great help for me as new blogger. God bless

Robert Scott Lawrence says
Thanks for the detailed instructions — it was super easy to set up Networked Blogs and add one more syndication outlet. I looked at it a year ago or so and was turned off by the whole “allow Networked Blogs to post to your FB page” authorization, but it’s really just the same app authorization every other app requests, so no big deal, really.
Michelle Shaeffer says
Awesome, glad that was easy. :)
Yeah I think we’re starting to get more used tot hat same set of authorization data requested by these apps.
Jenny says
Thank you so much for the tip! I just registered & it was very easy–even for a newbie :)
Michelle Shaeffer says
You’re welcome, Jenny. :)

Good overview. I joined Networked blog and found it very interesting. It makes facebook a single point of interaction to find other blogs and follow them. The widget it provides will make other users to follow a blog easily.
Michelle Shaeffer says
Right. I’m a big fan of giving people their choice in how to follow blogs. More choices = more followers.

Jackie Paulson says
Question?
I already follow 200 network blogs, so how can I follow more?
How do I get more followers also?
Jackie
Michelle Shaeffer says
Hey Jackie, couple of ways to get more followers:
– add the widget to your site so readers can follow you
– let your fans/friends on facebook know that they can follow you
Not sure on the 200 following though. It may be a networkedblogs limit.
Chris says
Great easy to follow article! I was easily able to register one of our blogs and syndicate it to a fan page I am an admin on. One question I have – is it possible to find someone else’s blog and syndicate it to a fan page I am an admin on? For ex: if I am the admin of xyz’s fan page, and they have a blog, can I syndicate it to their fan page on their behalf? I tried to do this, but I got this error:
Looks like the blog feed is not setup correctly.
If you are the blog author, please make sure that your feed is properly pulled to NetworkedBlogs. You can do so on the blog profile.
I know it is already registered, because I tried to register it, and it said it was already registered.
Any ideas?
Michelle Shaeffer says
I haven’t tried that, Chris, but what I’d recommend is asking on their fan page: http://www.facebook.com/networkedblogs

Hi Lori, I’m not sure how that part works with privacy on Facebook. I’d ask the question on their Facebook page or via support link on the NetworkedBlogs site and see what they say. :)
