The video and thought this weekend are about the journey of life… finding happiness as we go along… and not focusing on the “destination” as success. It’s true in life and in building a business.
Don’t focus on “arriving” or being “discovered” or hitting the million dollar mark or whatever else your end goal might be. Goals are wonderful to have, but don’t get so focused on them that you don’t acknowledge the joys and accomplishments along the way–enjoy the path you walk to reach them.
Shifting your perspective so you enjoy the process of creating success makes it so much easier and less stressful. You’re not a failure if you haven’t reached your biggest goals yet. If you’re a step closer than you were yesterday, that’s success!
Celebrate every success, no matter how small, and no matter how many other things aren’t working yet or what other storms are surrounding you.
“Life’s not about waiting for the storms to pass…It’s about learning to dance in the rain.” ~Vivian Greene
As I was looking at quotes to include with this week’s inspirational video, I found a beautiful piece written by Shannon Spaunburg. If your life has felt difficult, challenging lately I encourage you to take a few minutes to read it: http://www.motivateus.com/stories/journey.htm
Oh, and here’s the video! Think about life as a journey while you watch.
This is an incredible article! I needed to be reminded often that the journey is a huge part of the goal. We all have a tendency to think that Arriving is all that there is. You dispel that myth in a hurry in this article.
When you said, “enjoy the process of creating success” that is perfect advice. If we can turn the journey into a success and as you said “celebrate every success” we will be so much more successful!
I love the video it says perfectly what we need to know to enjoy the journey. It is the music of life that makes it worth living. Thank you for posting it here so you could enjoy and be instructed.
This is why I keep coming back to your site…
Thank you!
Thank you, Eric. I had a mentor several years ago who encouraged me to think of my business as climbing a mountain and even though I hadn’t reached the top yet, to stop and turn around and look back — to see how beautiful the view was and how far I had come already. And to acknowledge how hard it had been to get to that point, how many steps it had taken. That really helped me shift my perspective around and realize every step deserves celebration.
I am learning this lesson more and more and more every year. Had to share it on FB today! THANKS!
Yes, I think this is one we all keep learning. :) Thank you for sharing the link.
