Are there pumpkins, trick or treat candy, and costumes filling your house yet?
At my house October means the perfect time to grab dress up play clothes at great prices the day after the holiday. I have kids who adore dressing up year round as princesses, super heroes, pirates, monsters, aliens… you get the idea.
There’s something about pretend play that allows us to dream of what it could be like. The excitement of sailing on a ship as a pirate… being a self-rescuing princess in a beautiful tiara (it’s a tiara and it’s mine!!)… exploring space as an alien or astronaut…
Did you have glamorous dreams like that of what it would be like to be in business?
I didn’t quite dream of spreadsheets, paperwork, figuring out how/what to delegate, learning so many new skills, deadlines, working until 5am, working alone, and all that “excitement” that comes along with running my own business.
In fact, sometimes business can feel downright overwhelming and even a little scary. Just ask me before I host a webinar, get near a stage, or around April 15th. :)
It can feel a bit like the scene from Cinderella when her carriage turns back into a pumpkin. What we dreamed business would be like… well, then we get smacked with reality.
But the good news is that it doesn’t take a fairy godmother, or a pie, to turn that pumpkin business into something awesome. You CAN build a business that you love.
And that’s why I’m happy to share a cool learning series with you today!
My friend and colleague Amethyst Mahoney is hosting “Business is SO Not Scary” and today I’m speeaking about how to get over blogging fears so you can get more traffic and business with your blog. It’s going to be a fun interview style, so you won’t feel like you’re sitting in a lecture hall and flashing back to your school days of a teacher droning on for an hour. Come listen.
Grab your spot: https://michelleshaeffer.com/
You won’t see me on that opt-in page because I’m stepping in at the last minute to help cover an open spot. Consider me a surprise “bonus” guest. ;)
P.S. Sorry for the super short notice, but the recording will be available for 48 hours so if you’re reading this Friday, Saturday or Sunday you can still get in AND you’ll also get to listen to lots of other cool interviews and presentations.
Your turn! What dreams did you have of what it’d be like to be in business for yourself? What aspects of being an entrepreneur have lived up to your dreams?
Thanks Michelle. Wise words, and a fun article. I enjoyed reading it – and so relate!!!
Congratulations on stepping in to be a guest in this program. You are a perfect addition.
Michelle, you simplified blogging for me so much that I now have two. The people on the call will be lucky to hear from you.
Great post Michelle!! I love how your posts are always so relatable. Love it!!
Enjoyed the interview my mission matters more than my mistakes
Good question – the freedom one has from owning their own business is the BEST. And of course the income part is good too (if you’ve learned to leverage your time). Caveat: lots of lessons to learn before you get where you want to go.
