Are you listed on NetworkedBlogs.com yet?

It's a user-generated blog directory that provides a simple way to get more exposure for your blog.

In their system your blog gets it's own page, listing in their directory, and can be easily syndicated to Twitter and/or Facebook.

Why Add Your Blog to NetworkedBlogs?

It's a great promotional tool!

  • Get a listing in their blog directory
  • Syndicate your content to Facebook easily
  • Promote your blog on your Facebook fan page and personal profile
  • Give fans an easy way to follow your blog on Facebook where they're already at
  • Add a box of "faces" to your website to display your following

And it's free for the basic features!

How to Add Your Blog

There are two steps to getting setup.  First you sign up with NetworkedBlogs, then you add it to your Facebook page.

Thank you to Diana Simon for letting me use her blog and fan page in this tutorial.

Part One: Add Your Blog to NetworkedBlogs

1) Start at NetworkedBlogs.com and click the "Add Your Blog" button.  You may need to login to Facebook next.

2) Click the "Register a Blog" button.

3) Enter your blog details and click the "Next" button.  Don't worry, you'll be able to change these later.

4) Confirm whether you're the author or not.  If not, you'll be able to tag the author if you're friends with them or skip that if not.

5) Now you'll see the confirmation page showing your blog is successfully registered with the NetworkedBlogs system.

6) You may want to rate your blog, invite people to follow, edit, or share now.

Part Two: Syndicated Your Blog to Your Facebook Profile or Page

1) Click the "Syndication" link.

2) Choose your blog in the drop down (if you have more than one setup with NetworkedBlogs) then click on the "Add Facebook Target" link.

3) Now choose the profile you want your blog posts to show up on and click the "add" link for it.  It will change to "added" when it's successful.

Now your posts will automatically show up on your profile.  You can also set it up to publish to any fan page or group that you're an admin of by following step 3 again.

Here's the next step...  Part Three: Add a "Blog" Tab to Your Fan Page and some additional tips to help you best leverage NetworkedBlogs.

  3. I just recently signed up for Networked Blog. I'm still getting use to it. I'm hoping that it brings me more traffic. It would be my first blog directory…

  4. this is also very useful if you have a lot of friends on FB, because each time you post a new article, the networkedblogs app will post it to your wall

  5. a. scattergood says:

Is anyone else having trouble with the "add your blog" button today? Actually I've tried it all weekend, trying to link my blog to Facebook and all I get is the dreaded message from Facebook:
The page you requested was not found.

    • a. scattergood says:

OK, today the tab worked. And I hope I did it right! Thanks for these tips.

    • Usually when I see that, it's just a temporary issue of some sort and if I try again later it works. I've had that issue constantly with my messages on Facebook lately–just keeps loading a blank page. So I don't know the secret, but trying again a few hours later might work. :)

  6. I literally just syndicated with Networked Blogs and then 10 seconds later your post appeared in my newsfeed!

It's been great reading back through and checking I did it all correctly – thank you!

As a result, I have also discovered your great blog and at a glance, I can see lots of great articles which I want to bookmark and read. Thank you!

  7. Hi – great article about Networked Blogs.
The only problem with it now is that Facebook forces you to go OFF the secure "https" connection to access NetworkedBlogs. And also their new profile format obscures the link to the blog, making it difficult to access. Hmmm…. It seems facebook is always making 'improvements' which impede its simplicity.

    Bloggeristic Greetings!

    • Hey Christine, thanks for mentioning that, good to know. I agree, Facebook's constant tinkering with layout and function sometimes has the opposite effect they intend (confusion instead of simplicity). Just a couple of weeks break from changes would be nice! :)

  8. Ok, so I click on 'add your blog' and do not get step 2: the screen I get wants me to choose 5 blogs to follow before it will let me do anything else. I don't want to follow other blogs at this point – none of the ones given to me on that page appeal, anyway – I just want to register my blog. Any advice?

  10. Great post explaining the residual services of the syndication tool. I've been getting trickles of traffic from this. Now I need to tweak it a bit more.

  11. I first found out about networked blogs from a Youtube video but it doesn't discuss much about how to set it up. Thanks for this post, I can now syndicate my blogs to my FB page. Your steps and instructions are simple and easy to follow.

  12. Thank you so much for your clear instructions. It gave me the confidence to get in there and get it done. It was painless.

  14. i have recently setup networkedblog with my website but i can't get my images to pull from my website to post on facebook. can you tell me what i may be doing wrong. here is what i have on wordpress, the only thing i can find that i would think would control the image setting.

    Image sizes
The sizes listed below determine the maximum dimensions in pixels to use when inserting an image into the body of a post.

Thumbnail size Width 0 Height 0
Crop thumbnail to exact dimensions (normally thumbnails are proportional)
Medium size Max Width 50 Max Height 50
Large size Max Width 1024 Max Height 1024

    Embeds
Auto-embeds When possible, embed the media content from a URL directly onto the page. For example: links to Flickr and YouTube. When possible, embed the media content from a URL directly onto the page. For example: links to Flickr and YouTube.
Maximum embed size Width 1024 Height 1024
If the width value is left blank, embeds will default to the max width of your theme

    • Hi Tara, a lot of different issues could be causing it, and it's probably not related to NetworkedBlogs would be my first guess. To check, just try posting a link to the post and see if it pulls the thumbnail. If not, then it's Facebook and your site, and nothing to do with NetworkedBlogs. If that's the case, the next thing I'd check is make sure that you're uploading the image you want to show up to your website (not just linking to it on another image host) and that you're setting it to the featured image if your theme supports that. There's also this option you might look at: http://www.ehow.com/how_4938148_thumbnail-show-up-facebook-share.html

  15. Great information but I'm stumped a bit. I just created a new blog and want it to replace my old one; new branding all across the board.

I setup the new blog and I saw two tweets in my tweet stream today, one from my feed and one from networked blogs. Do you know how I can modify my account to not have that tweet…the duplicity of two right together is not necessary and I fear looks a bit like overkill to my followers!

    thanks in advance…

  19. Will removing the networkedblogs application remove my syndication from my blogs? i did a mistake syndicating my 2 blogs to my profile and page on FB. i think it's better to remove it from my page.

  20. it is nice info
    and its so important
    thanks for you tutorial

  21. Nice share, friend. I hope this will for beginners and follow my blog also please

  22. I' had my blog syndicated to facebook for quite some time and am pretty comfortable working iwth it. There's just one thing I'm wondering. I have about an equal number of friends (personal profile) to fans on my site's fb Page. There is an overlap of about 85 people who are both my friends/professional contacts and fans of the page…and they get at least 2 copies of each post as a result, more if I like or share a particular post. Is it possible to syndicate ONLY to my page (dropping my profile) so I can stop driving my friends/professional contacts crazy? This way I could share specific posts on my profile when I want to draw the attention of certain people or to make sure all my friends get to see certain things without it becoming a THIRD post to the News stream of people who also like my Page. Thanks for your input. Hannah

  23. Great info. I've already registered but didn't link to my facebook page. I plan to do that in the near future. Thanks for all the great information. It is so helpful to beginners.

  32. Hi Michelle – when you syndicate a blog through Networked blogs to FB, and someone clicks on that link, it opens up the short link page at Networked Blogs.

    e.g. http://networkedblogs.com/xxxXX

Do you know if these visits are captured in Google Analytics on my URL?

    thanks, Jay

  33. Hi, I've made all the setups for publishing on a FB group as described here, but the new posts are not appearing on the group wall. I read that this might take up to 3hrs but I waited ~5hrs and still nothing. Any tips?

  34. Hello. Thanks for sharing this great idea. Great help for me as new blogger. God bless

  35. Thanks for the detailed instructions — it was super easy to set up Networked Blogs and add one more syndication outlet. I looked at it a year ago or so and was turned off by the whole "allow Networked Blogs to post to your FB page" authorization, but it's really just the same app authorization every other app requests, so no big deal, really.

  42. Great easy to follow article! I was easily able to register one of our blogs and syndicate it to a fan page I am an admin on. One question I have – is it possible to find someone else's blog and syndicate it to a fan page I am an admin on? For ex: if I am the admin of xyz's fan page, and they have a blog, can I syndicate it to their fan page on their behalf? I tried to do this, but I got this error:

Looks like the blog feed is not setup correctly.
If you are the blog author, please make sure that your feed is properly pulled to NetworkedBlogs. You can do so on the blog profile.

I know it is already registered, because I tried to register it, and it said it was already registered.

    Any ideas?
