What's your ranking at www.Alexa.com? You can find out by typing your domain into the search box.
Want a better (lower) ranking? I went on a quest about a year ago to find out what it'd take to get my ranking below 100,000 and I kept a journal of sorts noting what I did and how it seemed to affect my ranking. You can read about it here: How I Got My Alexa Ranking Under 100,000.

Because of their measuring methodology, it's basically just guessing if you don't have that javascript on your site or pretty good traffic from people using their toolbar. :)

Do you mean adding the toolbar to your browser? It's not essential but it's helpful if you're working to lower your ranking with them, since you can more easily see your Alexa ranking (each site's ranking displays as you visit it, so you don't have to go check their website) and it helps them "see" the traffic to your site, who's linking to you, etc.

They get their stats from people running the toolbar and use that sample to project/guess traffic numbers for sites. That's why it's so unreliable for sites that have less traffic is that not everyone runs their toolbar so they can't actually see all the traffic on the internet–they're just guessing based on a small sample size (toolbar users). And that's also why it can help if we install the toolbar and Alexa sees us visiting our websites. Because they're "watching" it can also help them see links in since we can go visit sites that have linked to us and click through to our sites.
The exception to this is certified sites (like yours, Tor), or sites that have the javascript ranking embedded (like mine). They can see our traffic pretty accurately. :)

If you're running the Yoast SEO plugin, it's got a spot in the settings for Alexa verify code. Otherwise if you know how to do FTP that's easier. ;)

I thought that I had claimed my site at Alexa years ago. Your infographic prompted me to double check. Turns out it was unclaimed!
So I claimed it, installed the toolbar & added their widget.

My Alexa traffic rank was about 447k back in mid-December.
Now, a little past mid-January, it's about 237k.
