Is there someone you’d like to connect with who could become a perfect client for you, or a great joint venture partner? Building your business is all about building relationships. Try sending them an old-fashioned card through the mail.
It’s always nice to get an unexpected card in the mail and people tend to save them much longer than email or voice mail so skip the digital options one time and grab a pack of real cards from your local store or get your own Send Out Cards account. Most websites include a mailing address in the footer of their pages or on their contact page where you can find their mailing information.
Here are 5 great reasons to send a card to someone you want to connect with. These work best if the person you’re trying to get to know better and build a relationship with is already aware you exist. Think of it as one tactic in your overall connection strategy.

How long are your links?
Are you using a link shortener yet for your website links and affiliate links? If not, you should be! And it’s easy to do.
You can choose to use a web-based link shortener like TinyURL, Bit.ly or ShortURL. Or, you can install the GoCodes plugin for WordPress or a free script like Shorty on your own domain and stay in control of your affiliate links. Using your own domain as the base for your short links lets you build links to your site, build your brand, and be in control of where the links are pointing to.
There are three important reasons I suggest bloggers and online business owners shorten their links.

Do you ever wonder why some tweets get noticed and retweeted dozens or hundreds of times while others get lots in the noise?
Here are some tips to help you post retweetable tweets that get noticed.
Make your tweet short enough to be retweeted
You’ve got 140 characters to send out a tweet. But if I retweet that tweet, I’ve got to have room to add RT @yourusername.

Are you using Twitter for business and looking for ways to increase your reach by gaining new followers? Here are five ways to get new followers on Twitter.
1. Find and follow targeted tweeters.
Many people on Twitter will follow you back if you follow them first. But you don’t just want random followers to inflate your numbers. The key is to find the people on Twitter who you can connect with because you have things in common and who would be interested in the products or services you offer.
Not sure where to begin to find people to follow?

I thought Twitter sounded pretty crazy when I first heard about it a couple of years ago. 140 characters to tell other random people what I’m doing? Turns out I love Twitter and it’s pretty cool once you get it figured out.
The analogy I like best is the water cooler comparison — Twitter is like the office water cooler where people pop in to chat during little breaks in their day.
I enjoy Twitter because of it’s simplicity. Short messages. Nothing complicated. It’s simple and easy. You can tweet from the website at www.twitter.com or you can use a program like HootSuite or Tweetie (iPod Touch/iPhone app). You can also tweet from various smart phones.
So, what’s it good for? Twitter’s a free way you can:

Guest blog alert! I’m at CWAHM this week. I was invited to post two guest blogs at Jill Hart’s CWAHM website this summer and they’ve just posted the first of the two so I wanted to share it with my blog readers. I’ll share the second one once it’s posted, too. If you’re a work at home mom, their newsletter’s full of great tips – both business and homemaking articles.
Summer time means we’re usually outside more, away from the computer, and getting some sunshine. That can make it difficult to stick with some of the marketing plans that rely heavily on the internet. Not sure what to do to stay active with your marketing while busy enjoying summer with your family? Here are a few low-tech and off-line ways you can get in some business marketing while you’re off to the beach or park.

(P.S. For Ultimate Blog Challenge participants, this post is 151 words, not including my PS here. Try featuring a little blurb and link to somewhere else you’ve published an article (even Ezine Articles!) as one of your posts. It’ll build your credibility as well as let you re-purpose your work and create a new blog post without writing a whole new article.)

One of the strategies I use to build a following on Twitter is to share helpful tips and articles as often as possible. If you’re doing the same, consider using this strategy to take your tips to the next level.
1. Start by compiling a list of 30 short tips on a specific topic. Remember they need to be under 140 characters. And if you want to encourage others to re-tweet them for you, keep them even shorter (around 100 characters or so).
2. If some of the tips you want to share are too long, write a blog post or article explaining it, then add the URL to the tip. Use a URL shortener like Bit.ly to make sure it’s not too long.
